Ayaka Komatsu, SABU, and a zombie!  Here we have a Miss Zombie promotional event AND a celebration with Ayaka holding an award Miss Zombie received!  I unfortunately can’t make out which award it is, as the film has actually received a fair few.

Here’s a list of the awards Miss Zombie received according to this post on Ayaka’s blog:

• Oporto International Film Festival Grand Prix for Best Film
• Oporto International Film Festival Orient Express Special Award 
• Dhaka International Film Festival Best Screenplay

• Miss Zombie will be showing at the 13th New York Asian Film Festival (June 27-July 14, 2014).  I will be playing on Wednesday, July 9 at 3:30pm, details here.
• Miss Zombie will be showing at the Edinburgh International Film Festival (June 18-29, 2014).  It’s actually playing today, June 22 at 8:10pm local time.  I don’t know if this will get posted in time for any locals to make it, but just in case, more information is here.
• Miss Zombie was shown at the Japan-Filmfest in Hamburg.  It was the 9th most popular film at the festival.
• Miss Zombie was shown at the WA! Japan Film Festival in Italy.  The page for the film is here.
• Miss Zombie was shown at the 5th Taipei Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival.

Oh, and if everyone could start praying for Miss Zombie to be included in the Chicago International Film Festival in October, that would be great.

• Sailor Luna did not appear in the manga or original anime. However, Luna did take human form in those continuities. Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi helped with the design of Sailor Luna.
• The sequence Luna entered into the Lunatia L was 6-7-2. Six = roku (“ru” as in Luna), seven = nana (“na” as in Luna) and two = ni (“neko”, meaning “cat”).

• The Shitennou (四天王), or the Four Heavenly Kings, are loosely based on the gods found in Buddhism. Unlike their anime counterparts, the live-action Shitennou are acknowledged as Endymion’s friends and guardians from the past.
• Aside from Endymion, Dark Mercury and Mio, the Dark Kingdom names are inspired by minerals. An example is that Jadeite’s name is derived from a form of jade known as jadeite.
• In Greek mythology, Endymion was a beautiful young man that Selene, the goddess of the moon, loved.
• Mio’s surname “Kuroki” (黒木) literally translates to “black tree”. She took on the form of a dark, plant-like youma in the Special Act.
• The location of the Dark Kingdom is a bit vague. It appeared to have caverns and a forest, though. The new Dark Kingdom, established by Queen Mio, was at an abandoned amusement park.

Koichi Sato, Kanako Higuchi, and Keiko Kitagawa will star in a Japanese movie adaptation of Edward Mooney Jr.’s novel “The Pearls of the Stone Man”. The film, titled “Ai wo Tsumu Hito”, is slated for release in early summer 2015.

Sato will play a man named Atsushi who must deal with the fact that his wife Ryoko has been diagnosed with a terminal heart condition. Kitagawa will play their daughter, Ryoko. Other main cast members include Shuhei Nomura, Hana Sugisaki, Yo Yoshida, and Akira Emoto.
