According to several fan tweets (translated by DB) Keiko has been spotted on set filming with Kenichi Matsuyama (Death Note, Norwegian Wood, Gantz).

Rumor has it that the film is to pay homage to late director, Yoshimitsu Morita. Keiko worked with Morita on two films before he passed away in 2011. She made her big screen debut in Mamiya Kyoudai (2006) and she co-starred with Matsuyama in Southbound (2007). Keiko attended Morita’s funeral on Christmas day in 2011 and reportedly said:

"I adored him as a precious teacher whom I owe so much and I cannot put my grief into words… […] He once told me, ‘I think you are great the way you are. Please don’t stop and continue as an actress.’ It was exactly those words that kept me going forward and… He just was a really important person in my life. I wish I could meet him once more." (x)

I think it’s possible that Keiko would’ve worked with Morita on another film had he lived, so this must be a very emotional project for her.

The working title for this homage film is の・ようなもの のような もの (Something Like Something Like It) named after Morita’s first movie の・ようなもの (Something Like It) which won “Best Film” and “Best New Director” at the 3rd annual Yokohama Film Festival in 1981. There is little information at this early stage but judging from fan tweets it’s highly likely that Matsuyama is the male lead opposite Keiko.

I’m excited for this movie! Kenichi is a favorite of mine so I’m looking forward to seeing Keiko work with him again.
