The award winning TV movie, Mi wo Tsukushi Ryoricho (Devoted Cookbook), is returning for a sequel!
Keiko will reprise her role as Mio, the young woman who finds confidence in herself through cooking and competing with local chefs during the Edo period in Japan.
The sequel will focus more on Mio’s growth as a friend, professional chef, and woman in love. It’s spring time in 1814 and Mio’s restaurant, Tsuruya, is flourishing under her supervision. A new restaurant arrives to challenge Tsuruya’s credibility by claiming Mio steals their recipes and Mio must fight to protect her reputation. Noe, Mio’s childhood friend, is desperate to leave the red light district but her high level position as Oiran makes it difficult for Mio to help her. And if that isn’t enough stress, a disease rocks the city and hits close to home when Mio’s mentor falls ill.
Sounds like a blast!
Mi wo Tsukushi Ryoricho is one of my favorite Keiko movies and definitely worth a watch (or re-watch) before the sequel airs June 8th on TV Asahi at 9pm.
