- After being shown at the Festival du Film Fantastique de Gérardmer, Miss Zombie won the Grand Prix/Best Picture Award!! This was almost certainly because the judges were blown away by Ayaka’s amazingness. You see a PDF about the win here. My French is atrocious, so I won’t try to translate, but it looks like it’s not a sonnet about Ayaka, so who cares, right? xD CONGRATULATIONS TO MISS ZOMBIE!
- Miss Zombie was shown at the Berlin Film Festival, February 8 and 10, 2014.
- The film was also shown at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival back in November 2013. The web page for the film has this little blurb about the movie, which I choose to believe is in direct reference to Ayaka.
"Miss Zombie” is perhaps one of the most surprising films of Japan’s film year blending together into a mesmerising whole black comedy and nuanced drama, at the same time reversing the conventions and understanding of zombie film as horror or genre cinema. More a sharp and witty metaphor to describe the power relations, the comeback film of Japan’s black comedy maestro Sabu, the film features all of the tropes that have brought fame to it’s helmer – stylish black and white visuals, refined performances of the cast, a witty social message, and of course – doses of cleverly satisfying black humor.
I JUST WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE GOD DAMN IT
